ECON: Why Economics?

Hi! I am Luigi, one of the co-founders of MEEP Blog and the editor of the economic section.

My main purpose in these articles is to try to explain this complicated world with economics theory and econometrics. We are going to discuss since daily actions, as taxes and bureaucracy, to complex activities, like public policy and education.

Well, I suppose that you may be curious why and how economics solve these intricate situations? The answer is simple, the power of economics is to analyze human decisions and behaviors, with mathematics. In other words, the crucial advantage of econ is to put social actions into graphics and charts. Then economists can investigate the complex system of exchange, the basis of society, and remedy the market failures (in theory!).
